Job Description:

Our client is seeking an experienced Senior Mechanical Superintendent with a background in processing plant mechanical and electrical engineering maintenance on sag mills and related equipment, to lead their team on site in West Africa.

 

Responsibilities:

  • Overseeing mechanical and electrical engineering maintenance activities within the processing plant and related facilities.
  • Training and mentoring of the national workforce in line with OEM and industry best practices, including the preparation of training material.
  • Assisting the Engineering Manager to ensure all work is carried out sufficiently.
  • Carrying out continuous improvement initiatives and problem solving.
  • Ensure plant performance metrics and maintenance compliance are achieved.
  • Identifying and assessing maintenance issues and risks at the plant.
  • Risk mitigation and compiling strategies to achieve and maintain compliance.

Requirements: Qualification and Skill

  • Mechanical Engineering Degree from an accredited institution.
  • 15 years previous experience in mechanical and electrical engineering maintenance within mining processing plants, with 10 years in a leadership capacity.
  • Previous experience in sag mills, cone crushers, conveyors, pumps and gravity separation.
  • Rigging and lifting, component refurbishment and process plant installation experience.
  • Computer literate in MS Office and Projects.
  • Proven ability to mentor, train, coach and guide team members.
  • Financial management acumen.
  • Strong focus on health and safety standards and compliance.
  • Previous expatriate experience in multicultural environments.

Responsibilities:

Preventive & Corrective Maintenance

  • Execute scheduled preventive maintenance on generators, pumps, fuel systems, cooling systems, and other BOP equipment.
  • Carry out reactive maintenance to resolve equipment failures and breakdowns efficiently.
  • Conduct routine inspections of plant equipment to detect early signs of wear, leaks, overheating, or malfunctions.
  • Ensure all maintenance activities are performed in accordance with manufacturer guidelines, safety procedures, and industry standards.

Spare Parts & Component Inspection
