Our multinational mining client has an opportunity for an expat Mechanical Coordinator for one of their operations in West Africa. The key purpose of the role is to take responsibility for surface engineering and maintenance programs of the site to optimize the safety and performance of all fixed plant to achieve optimal operational and production goals while ensuring compliance with relevant policies and procedures. The incumbent will also develop, coach and train a team of national maintenance technicians to ensure that all aspects of the surface fixed equipment is running as efficiently as possible by providing daily supervision of staff and training on all technical areas of the plant. This role reports directly into the Maintenance Superintendent.
- Lead, mentor, and develop a group of mechanical maintenance personnel for quality and safe work.
- Ensure direct reports understand their responsibilities and have necessary resources.
- Establish strong relationships with interdepartmental peers for effective collaboration.
- Execute maintenance plans cost-effectively, optimizing resource use.
- Ensure safety standards are met through weekly meetings and visible leadership.
- Reinforce the health and safety program for employee well-being.
- Monitor equipment status and use the CMMS system accurately.
- Ensure job performance aligns with plans, meets daily maintenance targets, and complies with safety regulations.
Requirements: Qualification and Experience
- Minimum Diploma, Certificate IV, or Mechanical Trade qualification.
- Minimum 10 years' experience in mechanical field associated with fixed plant maintenance.
- Minimum 5 years' experience in a supervisory role.
- Experience with a variety of equipment, including pumps, valves, crushers, mills, vibrating screens, and conveyors, as well as pipe fitting.
- Solid understanding of maintenance planning and execution.
- Ability to communicate effectively at all levels, build relationships, organize, direct, supervise, and provide training and mentoring.
