Job Description:


Our client is a leading multinational engineering company who require an HOD Accounting to report directly into the CFO MEA Region. The main scope involves: Manage and administer the direction and performance of the Accounts Department; Manage the Accounts Department within approved budgets and schedules; Be responsible for good employer relationship and the maintenance of good public client relationship.


 


Responsibilities:


  • Taxation: Preparation of annual tax calculation
  • Submission of tax returns
  • Control all SARS related payments to ensure accuracy and that they are submitted timeously
  • Review financial system and ensure VAT calculation is in line with SARS requirements
  • Overview in conjunction with Chief Financial Officer and Reporting
  • Accountant of monthly Group reporting
  • Ensure all general ledger reconciliations are prepared monthly and reconciling items are resolved timeously
  • Preparation / Review of HFM
  • Preparation / Review of consolidation
  • Review and correction of GL mapping in SAP to ensure: Meaningful and accurate financial reporting; Properly balanced reporting between HFM & SAP
  • Preparation of monthly report / Memo (in conjunction with Chief Financial Officer)
  • Variance analysis on monthly results
  • Monthly and quarterly forecasting as required by Group
  • Ensure all reporting and financial recording are accurate and in line with local and international reporting calendars
  • Ensure all relevant account policies and procedures are implemented (Group and local requirements) by Finance to govern overall business and financial integrity and ethics
  • Annual PWC audit
  • Group and local internal audit
  • Preparation of technically correct AFS
  • Review of current cost control measures
  • Development of monthly cost reporting
  • Establishing forum to discuss actual vs budget costing
  • Control all 3rd party payments, ensuring payments are done accurately and timeously
  • Weekly / monthly cash forecasting to optimise cash resources
  • Development of meaning financial reports for business
  • Development of suitable and required interface between accounting (SAP) and reporting system (HFM to facilitate automated month end reporting
  • Ensure all financial staff is adequately trained to perform duties
  • Ensure succession planning, career path and performance management contracts are in place for each finance team member
  • Effective management of all finance team members
  • Adherence to strict reporting deadlines
  • Ad hoc: Ensure proper archiving in line with statutory requirements; Exchange control / Foreign cover; Execution of additional tasks


 


Requirements: Qualification and Skill


  • Chartered Accountant
  • Minimum 5 years post article experience (Project Engineering or Mining environment)
  • At least 5 – 10 years’ experience in a leadership role
  • Strong proficiency in Microsoft Office
  • SAP & HFM experience
