Our client, a leading Engineering Service provider specializing in the power generation and energy sector, is seeking a highly skilled Senior Service Engineer to join their dynamic team in the Northern Cape, South Africa. This role is pivotal in maintaining and optimizing the operational efficiency of utility-scale power generation facilities, with a primary focus on turbines.

Responsibilities:

- Perform operational maintenance and troubleshooting on turbines, particularly during shutdown periods.

- Act as the primary client-facing representative, ensuring excellent public image and fostering strong client relationships.

- Drive business development initiatives by identifying opportunities for service enhancements and collaborating with clients to meet their evolving needs.

- Collaborate with internal teams and external stakeholders to ensure timely and effective resolution of technical issues.

Requirements:

- Bachelor's degree in Mechanical Engineering or B-Tech Mechanical qualification.

- Minimum of 4 years of hands-on experience working with rotating equipment, specifically turbines within utility-scale power generation facilities. 7 years' experience is preferred.

- Background in working with OEMs for turbines is advantageous.

- Proficiency in English and Afrikaans languages.

- Strong communication, interpersonal, and client relationship management skills.

- Ability to work independently and collaboratively in a fast-paced environment.

- Flexibility to be "on call" as the first point of contact for clients.

- Valid driver's license and willingness to travel as needed.

Reporting Structure:

The Senior Service Engineer will report directly to the Regional Lead for Power Generation, who in turn reports to the CEO.

Compensation:

Job Description:

The Project Manager should be a professional in the sector of urban water supply infrastructure, preferably with proven experience in conducting national-scale studies in public works, particularly in water supply. A track record of similar studies conducted in the last ten years is required, showcasing expertise in the Togolese water context.

Responsibilities:

  • Required to form a multidisciplinary team with key personnel. The team composition and proposed methodology should justify possessing sufficient capabilities to successfully execute the mission on the field and meet deadlines
    • Experience in studies and supervision of drilling works for water supply
    • Experience in designing urban water supply structures
    • Experience in designing sludge treatment stations
  • Similar role experience in two projects of similar nature, size, and complexity
  • Knowledge of the legislations and regulations in Togo
  • Phases include:
    • Pre-Project Studies: Conducting Preliminary Studies and Detailed Pre-Project Studies
    • Environmental and Social Impact Assessment: Undertaking assessments to understand the environmental and social implications of the project.
    • Works Supervision and Control: Overseeing and controlling the implementation of the water supply and sanitation infrastructure.

 

Requirements: Qualification and Skill

  • Bachelor's degree or equivalent
  • 15 years of general experience in the management and operation of water supply systems.
  • Experience in water supply and/or sanitation in sub-Saharan Africa
  • Expertise in designing urban water supply structures and sludge treatment stations.
  • Familiarity with electromechanical equipment in the water industry.
  • Proficiency in the French language
  • Successfully completed two similar missions in urban areas
  • Familiarity with BID (Banco Interamericano de Desarrollo) procurement procedures is advantageous.

 

Study Objectives and Project Components:

The overall objective of the project is to enhance water supply and sanitation services in the four prefectural capitals. Aligned with the government's roadmap, the project aims to achieve a water supply coverage rate of 70% by 2025 for cities outside Lomé. Specifically, the project targets the following outcomes:

  • Installation or upgrading of 54.4 km of water supply network.
  • Access to water supply systems for 4,000 households.
  • Increased capacity for drinking water treatment (1,410 m3/day).
  • Increased capacity for wastewater treatment (30 m3/day).
  • Improved access to improved latrines for households.
  • Provision of VIP latrines for schools.
  • Provision of improved latrines for health centers.
  • 49,148 individuals benefit from hygiene promotion, CBS & CEA sessions, including regular/rapid water quality monitoring using H2S strips and/or chlorine level tests.
  • Training of 616 technicians and facility caregivers in WASH facility operation, maintenance, and hygiene promotion techniques, with a gender distribution of 40% men and 60% women.

Job Description:

Our client is a market leader in the development of solar PV and energy storage projects and they are seeking a Project Manager who will be responsible for the successful delivery of hybrid large-scale energy projects located locally and regionally across sub-Saharan Africa. The successful candidate will work in conjunction with Head of Operations, Head of Contracts and Logistics and Engineering Manager/external Engineering to perform the following main activities.

Responsibilities:

  • Site visits/site assessments.
  • Preparation of internal and review of external pre-construction documentation and plans.
  • Driving EPC technical due diligence.
  • Being main point of contact for the EPC and all project stakeholders on each project assigned including weekly project meetings.
  • Responsibility for Internal reporting and meetings on project progress.
  • Project Programme management throughout all periods of the project(s).
  • Overseeing plant design, procurement, and logistics.
  • Overseeing plant construction to ensure design, quality and health and safety, reporting and documentation standards are met including living on site (or going between sites in the case of managing multiple sites at once) for much of the construction period.
  • Overseeing plant commissioning, punch list preparation and completion and project close out phases, including review of final documentation.
  • EPC payment milestone management.
  • Weekly reporting to the Client on project progress.
  • Assistance with preparation of internal Project Management processes and policies.

Requirements: Qualification and Skill

  • Minimum of 5 years proven experience in utility-scale Solar PV construction and project management experience with a strong operational background.
  • Thorough experience and understanding of hybrid generation systems.
  • Bachelor’s degree OR equivalent combination of education and years of related experience.
  • Suitable site H&S qualifications, .e.g., IOSHH of comparable local certification.
  • Significant experience managing vendor and client payment terms to achieve positive cash flow.
  • Significant experience with design / build contracts from ground up that result in profitable construction projects.
  • Strong understanding of financial models and management of budgeting cash flow.
  • Capable of managing multiple projects.
  • The ability to create and manage a schedule and budget to required margins.
  • Excellent communication skills both oral and written.

  • Develop short and long-term production and maintenance strategies for sustained ferrochrome production, aligned with corporate objectives.
  • Optimize maintenance resources for efficient plant operation, implementing upgrades and replacements to meet production targets at budgeted costs.
  • Drive continuous improvement through operational excellence.
  • Establish effective cost control systems for operating and capital expenditures, ensuring resource utilization stays within the approved budget.
  • Demonstrate strong organizational and leadership abilities, excellent interpersonal skills, aptitude in decision-making and problem-solving, and competency in strategic planning and business development with emotional intelligence.
  • Possess broad experience in production, maintenance, and engineering, with significant exposure to Ferrochrome production equipment, processes, and customer base.

 

Requirements: Qualification and Skill

  • Bachelor’s degree or equivalent in Metallurgical, Chemical, Mechanical or Electrical Engineering or equivalent
  • 10 years’ relevant experience in the Metals value chain
  • 5 years’ managerial experience in management of Metallurgical plant operations
  • In-depth experience in managing overall operations of Smelter operations.
  • Master’s degree in technical discipline, Business Administration or commercial studies will be advantageous.
