Job Description:

Our client is seeking an experienced Mechanical Specialist with a background in processing plant engineering maintenance on sag mills and related equipment, to join their team on site in West Africa.

 

Responsibilities:

  • Overseeing mechanical engineering maintenance activities within the processing plant and related facilities.
  • Ensure that the team has obtained relevant paperwork and permits for work to be carried out.
  • Task allocation and overseeing maintenance carried out by the team.
  • Inspections on plant equipment and other areas as required.
  • Reporting any breakdowns, potential equipment failures and incidents timeously.
  • Creating work orders for planning for required maintenance to be carried out.
  • Ensuring good housekeeping within the team.
  • Carrying out quality control and assurance of all mechanical tasks performed.
  • Training and mentoring of team members.

 

Requirements: Qualification and Skill

  • Mechanical Engineering Diploma or Higher National Diploma from an accredited institution.
  • 10 years previous experience in mechanical maintenance within mining processing plants, with 5 years in a leadership capacity.
  • Strong technical knowledge of mechanical systems, hydraulics, pneumatics, and rotating equipment.
  • Previous experience in sag mills, crushers, conveyors, pumps, gravity and magnetic separation.
  • Computer literate.
  • Proven ability to mentor, train, coach and guide junior and unskilled team members.
  • Strong focus on health and safety standards and compliance.

Our client is seeking an experienced Fuel Management Supervisor with a background in the mining sector to oversee all activities for Bulk Fuel Management, Fuel Storage Facilities, Fuel Procurement, Fuel Distribution to all Equipment and Users, Fuel Systems Management and Fuel Financial Reconciliation on their mine site in West Africa.

Responsibilities:

  • Overseeing all fuel related activities and teams on site including bulk fuel management, storage facilities, procurement, analysis, distribution and financial reconciliation.
  • Development and implementation of a strategic fuel procurement plan including contracts negotiation with suppliers to ensure best pricing and terms.
  • Ensuring health and safety standards and policies are adhered to.
  • Overseeing fuel inventory management system, fuel records verification and financial reconciliation.
  • Management of large database and system integration to generate suitable management reports.
  • Cost saving initiatives (pricing terms, storage cost saving etc.).
  • Attending to all fuel matters including training, incident investigations, security enhancements etc.

Requirements: Qualification and Skill

  • Suitable bachelor’s degree.
  • 10 years previous bulk fuel management experience, with at least 7 years in the mining sector.
  • Previous experience in the petroleum sector preferable.
  • 5 years previous experience in a Fuel Supervisor capacity.
  • Advanced knowledge of Fuel Management System (FMS).
  • Experience in implementing ERP fuel software preferable.
  • Able to work independently on multiple simultaneous projects within strict deadlines.
  • Strong focus on health and safety standards and compliance.
  • Financial analysis, budgeting and cost control experience.
  • Experience providing mentoring and training.
  • Hands on approach to work carried out; this role will be active on the ground.
  • Previous expatriate experience in West Africa preferred.

  • Coordinate with the Maintenance Manager to implement training programs, ensuring the technical competencies of the maintenance team are continuously improved and aligned with OEM standards.
  • Regularly assess the skill level of the team, ensuring all members meet the minimum competency requirements necessary for high-quality maintenance work.
