EPC jobs are created for the Execution phase belonging to a construction / engineering project, which usually follows what is known as a Front End Engineering Design phase (FEED).
EPC stands for Engineering, Procurement, Construction and is a well established form of contracting agreements within the global Construction / Engineering field. The engineering and construction contractor will carry out the detailed engineering design of the project, procure all the equipment and materials necessary, and then construct to deliver a functioning facility or asset to their clients.
The EPC Contractor will most likely execute and deliver the project within an agreed time and budget. During the EPC Contract implementation, the project owner / client (to the EPC Contractors) will have a strong presence in the EPC Contractors offices. The client places what can be termed a Project Managment Team or PMT to overlook the EPC Contractor.
Engineering, procurement and construction (EPC) based projects are popular in the African construction industry. An EPC project is largely managed by the contractor and the project risks are carried by the contractor and not the owner.
