The Democratic Republic of the Congo (DR Congo) has both coal and crude oil resources and is receiving world-wide attention for its potential role as an economic power in central Africa.

The DR Congo has infrastructure for hydro-electricity from the Congo River at the Inga dams and additionally possesses 50% of Africa’s forests and a river system that could supply hydro-electric power to the whole of Africa.
