Job Description:

The Construction Manager is responsible for the day to day running of the project and acts as the principal point of contact for all construction aspects on the site.  They will manage, plan, control cost and deliver programme through sound safety and quality practices in line with agreed business objectives.

The Construction Manager interfaces with Managers and other staff responsible for HSE, Quality, Project Controls and Procurement and ensure that the various contracts are completed safely, within schedule and budget.

The candidate will support the Project Manager in recommending key staff (internal and external candidates) to support the construction efforts and in the management and development of the staff while assigned to the project.

Leadership and responsibility for health, safety and environmental performance is an important feature of the role. 




  • Plan and schedule all construction activities and provide Construction procedures as required.
  • Responsible for full implementation of the Construction Execution Plan in the field.
  • Responsible for overseeing the planning and safe execution of all construction work and reporting.
  • Provide Project Manager and Client timely progress updates.
  • Finalize construction Mobilization Plan and temporary facilities requirement.
  • Mobilize personnel in accordance with the staffing plan and identify additional manpower requirements as and when required.
  • Mobilisation and management of the construction supervision and resources carrying out the work on the various contracts.
  • Ensure constant surveillance of the various contracts for adherence / compliance to the specific quality and HSE plans and procedures.
  • Act as technical and logistical support to the construction supervision.
  • Ensure that all personnel receive sufficient training to effectively complete the various contracts.
  • Ensure that the construction team has the correct equipment and materials.
  • Act as technical and logistical support to the construction supervision.
  • Interpret Drawings and Specifications in order to plan the works.
  • Manage Security Access compliance requirements for people, plant and equipment and ensure adequate Welfare Facilities.
  • Ensure there is adequate and appropriate transport available (incl provision for maintenance) and ensure translation services are available as required.
  • Secure and Manage Access to Work Faces.
  • Organise Communication Hardware such as Site Radios as required.
  • Identification of work priorities & manage permits to work.
  • Ensure that material control, plant & equipment is managed in order to avoid any delay with the overall work schedule and that the correct Hand Tools are in stock.
  • Be a company nominated representative at client Site Meetings and deliver presentations to client, company management or employee groups.
  • Monitor and report the progress of the various contracts in accordance with company requirements.
  • Develop and maintain excellent working relationships with client representatives and company employees on site.
  • Develop and agree the Induction Training Programme and Tool Box Talks Programme.
  • Initiate and direct safety & quality audits.
  • Monitor the performance of the project from a construction perspective.
  • Carry out Daily Workplace Inspections, organise Communication Hardware such as Site Radios as required and ensure risk assessment is managed.
  • Responsible for productivity and efficiency and must be able to delegate and instruct team members.
  • Manage and develop an effective team of competent construction personnel to successfully execute the various contracts.
  • Monitor performance, manage and motivate the team and set performance targets for the team. Instill discipline and accountability in the tea.
  • Manage Individual Assessments and Identify Training Needs (formally) and arrange appropriate training as identified.  Use Mock Ups for Skills Training.
  • Manage Grievances and Disputes.
  • Manage Accident & Incident Investigation.




  • Electrical and Instrumentation experience required
  • Minimum 8 years’ experience in similar role
